THE CIDER TOWER.  Sleeps 2.

The Cider Tower dates back to the early 18th century when it is believed to have been a windmill. Later it was converted into a Cider Mill as the surrounding area was covered with apple orchards. After the orchards were removed the building was incorporated into a dairy farm steading when the byre and other buildings were added. In 2002 it was transformed into this wonderful unique holiday experience offering that "something special" for the discerning couple seeking quiet romantic solitude and luxury.

It was awarded a prestigious award by the Galloway Preservation Society for the best restoration and preservation project of 2002. The owners are very proud of this award as it is seen as the icing on the cake for all the hard work and planning they put into it. The whole project took about two years to complete, but the results are very worthwhile.

Queen Anne four-poster bed

Built on three levels The Cider Tower cottage is contained mainly within the circular structure of the old mill. It has beautiful polished wooden floors throughout and the interior design has been very thoughtfully completed.

On the Ground Floor the entrance porch leads to a hallway and open staircase. The romantic bedroom is dominated by a sumptuous Queen Anne four-poster bed, with luxury bed linen and fluffy white towels all included in the price. The ground floor also has a modern bathroom with a power shower over the bath and a separate cloakroom with second toilet and sink.

The First Floor has a modern fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, ceramic hob, electric oven, freezer, & everything you might need during your stay. The cottage also contains a washer/drier. The dining area has a wonderful Mexican Pine dining table and dresser. Up 3 steps takes you into the living-room which is furnished with exquisite antique and reproduction furniture, and is over-looked from the romantic Minstrel Gallery. In the living-room you will find a television and video, a DVD player and radio.

The Second Floor is accessed by an open staircase and forms the Minstrel Gallery on which you will be able to relax on the chaise lounge or admire the stunning views over Kirkcudbright and the estuary.
